Vincent Ridpath - Technical Designer


Hey, I'm Vincent Ridpath. I am a technical designer for this project. As a technical designer, my job is to be involved in gameplay design decisions and to help implement those mechanics as well. Because our goal is to give the players a strong sense of power, I will ensure that the mechanics of the game follow through with that. It's also my responsibility to communicate with others on the team about design-related questions or concerns. 

My current goal is to program a wave system where enemies will spawn with increasing difficulty.  Being in charge of the wave system means I'll also balance the increasing difficulty of each wave by enemy quantity, enemy types, and frequency of spawning. As waves progress, they should begin to feel more overwhelming in numbers, but still manageable with the increasing power of each player. The balancing of this will ultimately be achieved through communication with the programmers who are working on the enemies and player characters.

My overarching goal for this project as a designer is to make the players feel powerful without making the game feel too easy. This is going to be a balancing act that we will slowly work out throughout the duration of the project. I'm excited to see this project through!
