Game Design 1 Week 1 Update/Launch

This is the small game I made for week 1 of my game design 1 class. I wanted to start slow and re-familiarize myself with some basic Unreal Engine tools, so I decided to make a maze. We already had a lock and key system in the game, so I knew I could split the level into smaller, individual goals.

However, after some professor feedback, I realized I didn't want the maze to be too hard. So, I added a bread crumbing system. This made me relearn about binding widgets and basic integer manipulation. Fortunately, spawning actors in Unreal is fairly easy, so it was ultimately took about half an hour to make in all.

For our assignment, we needed to make a goal and an obstacle for a game. I've always liked having simple goals in my games. I then like to make it get a bit convoluted. So your goal in this game is to just go home from the office. However, there is a maze in the way! Here's hoping you can tackle the maze.

One thing I added was mantling to the game. To be clear, this system is from the ALS system. I just had to implement it to this game myself. I believe mantling is a small thing you can add to a game that makes it feel much less like a game. Instead, it feels like you're playing as a character.

I'm ready to tackle the new semester!
